Freelance consultants and contractors may consider Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to be a worthy communications medium, following one expert's comments at an event in London. Speaking at the Westminster eForum keynote seminar - entitled Filesharing, copyright and the digital consumer - Simon Milner, director of group industry policy at BT, outlined the firm's commitment to digital technologies. "The most recent one for us has been VoIP," he said, adding that the group is dedicated to "coming up with really innovative new approaches to voice". As such, self-employed people might be relieved by any measures that allow them to experience low cost communications from fixed or remote locations. This innovation might complement other technologies such as mobile broadband, which may help enhance a contractor's efficiency levels. In addition, the aforementioned showpiece was held at London's Congress Centre, where issues related to filesharing were also at the forefront of people's minds.
