PCG blog: Has IR35 ceased to be?

Remember the iconic Monty Python “Dead Parrot Sketch” where a shopkeeper and a rather angry customer argue over the status of a Norwegian Blue parrot?

It has become a part of Britain’s folklore as one of the most entertaining pieces of television ever. Generations have been in stitches as the two debate the health, or otherwise, of this once beautiful bird and have a good old ding-dong using many and varied euphemisms for death.

Well are we in the same situation over IR35.

PCG welcomes focus on IR35 for new independent tax body

PCG – the Voice of Freelancing today welcomed the launch of the Office of Tax Simplification (OTS) announced by the Exchequer Minister David Gauke MP at the Treasury this morning.  The OTS is made up of independent experts and will make recommendations to Government on simplifying the tax system.  The setting up of this body had been promised in the Budget and PCG is delighted that the Government has been so prompt in making good on this commitment.

PCG wins two trade awards

 PCG were delighted to be awarded two top awards at the prestigious Trade Association Forum 2010 Best Practice Awards in London (July 1st).
 
PCG Managing Director John Brazier was given the “Leadership Award” in recognition of his work in accelerating PCG forwards.

The revamped PCG website was voted ‘Website of the Year’ in the awards which are seen by many as the UK’s Trade Association Oscars.
